RELATIONSHIP COUNSELLING KENT

Relationship Counselling Kent 1

Relationship Counselling Kent. Miss Date Doctor counselling is open to everyone. Whether you are married, living together, separated, divorced or single, our luxurious confidential service can help you deal with your relationship difficulties.

Some of the issues our clients bring include:

  • Communication and conflict
  • Stepfamilies
  • Affairs
  • Coping with major life changes
  • Health or money worries
  • Sexual relationships
  • Balancing work and home

WHAT IS NEXT?

Miss Date Doctor will ask you to come for 40 minutes long free consultation with a counsellor. This session is to talk about your difficulties and explore what help would be appropriate for you. The counsellor will explain what counselling involves and answer any questions you might have.

Our assessment process includes time together and individually so that together, we can decide which

M.D.D service might be most helpful to you or if there’s something different we should employ which could be more useful.

If at the end of the consultation process it is agreed that our counselling may be helpful we will ask you for details of your availability and will contact you when an appointment becomes available. Counselling sessions are usually once a week and last approximately 90 minutes. You will see the same counsellor each week.

Relationship Counselling Kent. In your first couples counselling session, your relationship counsellor is going to work with you to build an understanding of how you have arrived at this point. This involves asking questions about your relationship including how it began, how it has developed, and how you experience it now.

It will also involve asking briefly about your wider families, your history of relationships before this current one, and getting a sense of the context in which you both live.

WHO IS RELATIONSHIP COUNSELLING FOR?

Is relationship counselling only for people who are involved in intimate relationships? When are two people regarded as being a couple? No, you don’t necessarily need to be in an intimate relationship or a marriage to benefit from relationship counselling.

Relationship Counselling Kent can be of help to individuals who are involved in any type of relationships, such as two siblings, friends, a parent and a child, or even a boss and an employee.

In our experience, when there are problems in a relationship, one partner tends to be more motivated to seek help whilst their spouse is often less enthusiastic to come along for counselling.

We find there are a number of reasons for this.  Sometimes partners feel that they should be able to solve their own problems without the help of a professional.

Relationship Counselling Kent. In some cases, they may even deny that any serious problem exists at all! Research has found that, in general, the more willing a partner is to go for help, the more likely it is that the relationship can be improved and even saved!   Is there a good time for relationship counselling?

People who find themselves trapped in a cycle of negativity and conflict in their relationship and who find it increasingly difficult or even impossible to change this pattern should in our opinion seek help without delay. It is our experience that many couples wait too long before going for Relationship Counselling Kent.

Why do we say that? There seems to be a “window of opportunity” to save a relationship that is in trouble – when there is still enough commitment and goodwill between the partners and both are motivated to work at improving things between them.

If you wait too long, you run the risk that one or both of you may lose the momentum to change the relationship for the better and the spark will no longer be there to reignite.

What can you do if your partner refuses to come for relationship counselling?

Relationship Counselling Kent. Apart from stressing that your relationship is extremely important to you and that you hope your partner feels the same way, you could suggest that you both come along for some sessions and if he/she doesn’t find it helpful they stop.

This often serves to break the ice and would give us the opportunity to explain the process and address any reservations and concerns that your partner may have.

IF MY PARTNER REFUSES TO COME FOR COUNSELLING, IS THERE ANY POINT IN MY COMING ALONE?

Of course, it is ideal if both partners agree to come along together for counselling. However, it can still be useful and beneficial for one of the couples to come for individual sessions.

They can often gain a new perspective on their relationship through therapy, and can also gain new ideas and skills to help in improving their relationship. A relationship has been likened to performing a ballroom dance.

If one member of the duo changes his or her steps, the other partner will have no option but to alter their steps in response – and in this way, a whole new dance will be initiated!

Relationship Counselling Kent. Going through couple’s therapy is one of the healthiest ways of making sure the relationship remains healthy.

The stigma surrounding counselling has long since disappeared. Similarly, seeking therapy is not a sign of weakness but a sign of willingness to become better.

It is a good reason why relationship counselling must always be an option. All relationships can benefit from therapy, so it should never be treated as a last resort. On the other end, letting relationship problems fester is a bad idea and will lead to more problems.

What Can Couples Expect from relationship counselling?

Relationship Counselling Kent involves techniques that address possible issues between couples. Some of the most common ones are the following:

Communication issues: Many relationships fall apart because of a lack of communication between partners. Misunderstandings can also be problematic if left alone. Couple’s therapy and marriage counselling seek to address these.

Emotional issues: Many couples are unable to voice out emotional issues for one reason or another. Therapy can help remedy this.

Differences: Differences, especially when unaddressed, can potentially ruin relationships. Counselling can help couples identify and address these issues before they cause more problems.

Relationship Counselling Kent. What happens in relationship counselling sessions are the following:

Communication: One of the keys to a successful relationship is communication. Relationship counselling seeks to improve communication between partners. Even those that have open lines of communication can gain some benefit from this.

Airing out issues and discussing them: The relationship counsellor will encourage the couple to be completely honest and voice out their issues. No stones are left unturned. Truthfulness is essential for therapy sessions to be successful.

Sharing and understanding: Much of the relationship counselling sessions will have the couple relate their experiences. The therapist will also usually help the couple understand each other’s views about various things.

Seeking solutions: Problems cannot be fully addressed without correctly finding solutions. One of the goals of couple’s therapy and marriage counselling is to find solutions to problems. That is usually done through compromise.

CONFIDENTIALITY

Relationship Counselling Kent. We aim to provide a caring and effective service in a

safe environment. We are particularly mindful of the need for confidentiality, and will always take note of any instructions you may have about how we are to contact you. We will not reveal confidential information to a third party unless someone’s personal safety is at risk.

Relationship Counselling does not give advice but rather helps you to find new ways to think about things, to find new frameworks by which to consider the challenges you face. It is a chance for you to talk through issues or experiences and for the counsellor to listen in a helpful and non-judgmental way.

RELATIONSHIP COUNSELLING KENT CONCLUSION

Relationship Counselling Kent 3

Relationship Counselling Kent Conclusion. All relationships have ups and downs. Sometimes, though, things can get a bit stuck and it’s hard to find a positive solution. That’s when help from a skilled couple relationship counsellor can make all the difference.

Whether you are feeling things just aren’t quite right or whether you are encountering serious difficulties, we are here to listen and support you towards a positive outcome.

Sometimes we can pull the wool over our own eyes, not wanting to really acknowledge what is happening. In couples counselling, it’s hard to deceive yourself or the counsellor because not only is the way you relate there in the room being observed, but your partner may also say what they think and feel, shining a light into areas you find uncomfortable.

Relationship Counselling Kent Conclusion. Relationship counselling tends to progress more quickly than one-to-one work. It also tends to be more dynamic and challenging. My advice is, to begin with, the end in mind. If you have a good, strong reason for being in counselling then you are more likely to be open to exploring.

Counselling helped us and still is helping us. It gives both of us more insight into each other’s feelings and thoughts on our relationship. The one thing I will say is you both have to want it, otherwise, it’s a waste of time
